Go the Extra Mile

Go the extra mile – it's never crowded.

You know, unfortunately, this quote is pretty darn true (at least in my experiences). Because many purchases nowadays are instant, anonymous or just big box "meh"-ness, the businesses that take that extra step truly stand out and I'm likely to go back to patronize their business.

Services and shopping experiences should have outstanding customer care, friendliness and service with a smile, cleanliness (!!!) and be attentive to your needs without being pushy.

But remember – you get what you pay for, so when you shop cheap, you usually get jipped in the above departments.

If you're a small business looking to add a small PERK onto a service or purchase, here are a few ideas:
- Gift-wrapping at no extra cost. It doesn’t have to be elaborate, just nice!
- Include a handwritten card with an online shipment or pick-up purchase. Thoughtful AF.
- Free GWP (gift with purchase). This often leads to sales of the giveaway item! AND….People remember gifts!
- Reusable tote with purchase. (Maybe have a minimum purchase since these can get a little pricy.)
- Complimentary delivery for purchases within a certain radius. Because, well, life is busy for shoppers.
- Stickers. People love stickers.
- Promote a neighboring biz or another business you love to support. Purchase (or be gifted) gift cards in smaller amounts ($5, $10, $20) to their business and give them away as GWPs.
- Free samples. People love free samples.
- Discount code or coupon for a percentage off their next purchase.

Do you have a unique perk that you add onto services or purchases? Tell me in the comments! 👇
